Yaris 2009 Sr And Model Refresh

I've a question, my local toyota dealer has told me that the SR is being removed from the range (and already has been), and that the range is being refreshed so that the TR includes alloys and a few other little things. None of this seems to be reflected in toyotas web site though, does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks!

It's the 1.8 SR that has been removed

That was in feb wasn't it? This apparently is something that has happened in the last month.

The 2009 models have already been 'refreshed' and had a minor facelift.

The main changes were the SR got a worse spec, including no lowering springs, spoiler or sat nav (but a price increase)

and the TR also had its specced lowered (and price increased).

The 1.8 has also been removed from the range.

Yes the TR is now the TR 2. Orders of the old TR spec are having the new spec at the same price. Dont know about the SR though. I would do a new version of the old car with all the gubbins and charge similar to T spirit, then people have a choice between sporty or luxury.

The new SR is the main version featured in all the broachers and is advertised on TV as sponsoring films, it’s recognisable by the rear tinted glass and multi spoke alloys. It hasn’t been removed from the range. The Yaris had a face lift in January, new engines and gear box, revised interior, better soundproofing etc

The Minor facelift. Would this include a change to the headlight units? I've been meaning to ask if they've had a facelift as they seem different on later mk2's compaired to the earlier ones.

The new SR has darkened headlight surrounds.

What about the Yaris in general across the board. Have they all been face lifted?

I bought a 1.33 SR a few weeks ago and when I picked it up I was told by the dealer that Toyota weren't going to be making the SR for a while. The broker I arranged the car through has also removed the SR from the list of available versions.

I've been told that by a dealer too. The "new" 2009 SR model has already been dropped from the range..... (in the last month or so)

I haven't heard about any other revisions, but my guess is that there was alot of reaction to it losing all the "sporty bits" like the spoiler and bigger alloys...

Unless you have a baby in the back, why do you need or want tinted back windows? and the "black" urrounds on the headlights were just a "touch" of smoke tint on a tiny area at the side of the lens.

Apart from the alloy wheels, theer is nothing to make the 2009 SR look different from any other model in the range...

My guess is that they had to drop all the standard "kit" from the 2008 model to cover the cost of the new engine and gearbox, but that they've had a lot of negative reaction and there's a change of plan afoot....

The web site is still a bit confused (the SR is there in some places but not in others...), but if you download the latest e-Brochure, you can see the latest changes to te 2009 range.

For those who haven't been following this thread, this is NOT about the 2009 model upgrades which came out at the start of 2009, but there have been further changes to the range in the past month.

The SR model has been dropped.

The TR model now has alloy wheels again (it always did up to the end of 2008, but the alloy wheels were dropped for the new 2009 TR model in January)

But - The TR model no longer gets curtain and driver's knee airbags.

As a result, unless you specify the extra airbags as an option (part of the VSC safety option pack now on the TR), the only model in the range with the full set of airbags is the T-Spirit.

And as a result of that, the e-Brochure actually states that the 5-star NCAP safety rating now only applies to the T-Spirit model, as that's the only one to have all nine airbags as standard.

(From 2006 to 2008, all models except the T2 had the full set of nine airbags...)

So it looks like Toyota have put alloys back on the TR to meet customer demand but saved the money for these by deleting the curtain and knee airbags...

Everything else on the 2009 range seems to be unchanged.

In January the SR 3 door on the road was £10,915.00 (with the new 1.3 engine and gear box and all the SR bits & pieces)

In July the SR has gone and the next nearest equivalent is the 3 door TR, on the road price £11,015.00 (was £10,275.00 in January)

£740 dearer than the January prices but it will cost you £715.00 to get it up to the SR/T-Spirit safety standard, so effectively a £1455.00 increase to bring it up to a SR level but still missing fog lights/privacy glass/analogue display and SR bits & pieces. Paint has also gone up to £400.

6.78% increase in ‘On the Road’ price but with fewer features and a 14.15% overall increase in 6 months. Good deal or not?

We paid £10,100 for our 2008 SR in 5-door with metallic paint last September (and if we'd waited until November, we could probably have got another £700 off that...

Not bad for 16" Toyota Motorsport wheels, roof spoiler, fog lights, bluetooth/mp3/satnav.

I still don't regret getting the 2008 model. I think Toyota have lost their way a bit with the 2009 range...

We've even had to scour the country looking for another 2008 SR model for my daughter as she wanted a used 2008 in preference to a new 2009 model...

So we now have two Sept 2008 1.3 SRs, both in Decuma Grey, one a 3 dr and one a 5dr.

The 3-door was made a week earlier but registered a week later...

The 2008 SR was an amazing deal for 10k. Toyota would have been spending a fortune on spec and marketing support to offer that sort of price. Hence why the 2009 SR is disappointing in comparison - and obviously sales reflect that as it's now been deleted from the line up.

If they sold that with the 2009 engine/gear box set up I would sell a kidney to get one!

Am so glad I bought my 2008 car when I did! Looks like in the future it will be one of the more desirable Yaris'... before they started messing with the range / spec!

Hi all,

I don't know exactly what are you saying about the TR model. I made a purchase on mine on the 24th of June. I ordered it in dealership with a June 2009 brochure in hand. It had everything it should, so an 1.33l engine,6 speed manual gear box, manual air con, 7 airbags (pass, driver, knee, 4x curtain) 6 speaker system, and also I optionally purchased the protection pack with parking sensors, mudflaps and boot line, or however they call it. It has all the extras, I am not sure where did you get the info that the TR is almost the same as the T2. Maybe if you buy as 1.0l version, than yes. But apart from that, 1.33l has full specs.

I will get alloys on mine, only because they've told me the company had £1,750 with government added £1000 price reduction on the scrappage scheme. Now they have only £1500 plus £1000, and because of the price increase, they add the alloys free. They don't even know how they will look like, for sure not as the ones that TS or T-Sprint has, but alloys it will be.
