Thoughts On The 5-door As Opposed To The 3-door Version.

I have a Aygo Blue 2009 model on order (due in a weeks time!) and found out the other day taht they had actually ordered the 5-door version and not the 3-door version. So I was going to correct this and then thought about maybe jus having the 5-door version instead.

I was wondering what peoples thoughts and opinions were on this??

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Well if they have made a mistake in the order, you could ask them to do something in lieu for you.

Obvious advantage with the 5 door is practicality. With the 3 door which I have ordered, I personally think it's a better looking car on the small frame.

Has your dealer said anything about this to you?

2 extra doors can only be a good thing.... it does not mean that you have to use them ;)

There is a bonus in that when you fold the rear seats down and load up the area you have easier access by using the rear doors.

On the George Orwell theme.... "2 doors bad, 4 doors good" ;)

Only joking.... you must always buy what you like but my personal preference says 4 doors is better

I seldom use the back seats so to me it's not worth the extra 340 quid.

I'm guessing that a three door is structually stronger than a five door and

there are less moving parts to go wrong.

If I had regular back seat passengers then a five door would be a must.

Front doors are smaller on a five door so don't need as much room when openeing in tight car parks.

If you're going for looks, the 3-door probably has the edge over the 5-door, but not by much :)

If you're going for practicality, the two extra doors are a huge advantage for load space and passengers.

We ordered the 5-door. Don't care about the looks - the front/back are pretty enough on the Aygo. I think the convenience of having 5 doors is quite appealing.

Sometimes its about cost, the 5-door costs about £340 extra.

I say if they've made the mistake and you're getting the five door, stick to it! Two free doors! Woooooo

Extra doors are great when getting something big that does not fit the trunk!

Thanks for the replies people, 3 doors can look better and I'm a young lad so looks is everything as you would guess ;) but I do like the comment that the 5 door is better in tight parking spaces due to its shorter door length. Also didnt really think about how convienient it would be to be able to use the back doors when loading the boot with bulky items.

I suppose it would save me getting out, everytime someone got in for the back seat also, hmmmm, think I'll stick with the 5-door.. plus I've been charged for the 3 door so shhh ;)

cheers guys!

If you've been charged for a 3 door and are getting the 5, you are quids in. I would not only welcome the additional practicality, but the fact you're getting it 'free' is a definite bonus :)

Just hope the garage don't realise what they've done and then order in an 3-door!

If they don't, then WOOOOOOO free doors!

The 5 door is also cheaper to repair. If there is damage to the rear quarters its cheaper to source another door than it is to pay for the labour of removing, painting and welding another panel into place.

5 door is also easier for the rear passengers to get out of it there's an accident. You also get larger cubby holes and a few centimetres extra shoulder room

I belive the 5 door version of ANY vehicle to be better than a 3door just for the lazy aspect of not having to wait for your passengers to get in before i can sit down.

I went for 5 door, i usually have passangers, but i thought the 5 door looked better aswell, i liked the rear windows in the 5 door more, they look cool

If you wanted a 3 door then stick with a 3 door. The doors will be bigger and it will be easier to get in and out, the car looks better with 3 doors (personal opinion) and less openings for water to get in. It may mean having to wait for another one which may take a while.

If you REALLY cared about having a "cool" looking car you wouldn't have gotten an aygo.

The 5 door is much more practical. Take the 5 door and don't give them a penny more than the price for the 3 door.

The Aygo IS a cool car.

The Aygo IS a cool car.

Definitely, especially when you compare it with it's brace-wearing Peugeot sister.

Ewwwwww

Hmm could be worth checking your finance agreement. If you have signed with it stating a 3 door. You will NOT be given the car. However if you have the price of the 3 door, yet a 5 door is mentioned on the agreement. Happy days.

T4 wouldn't endorse it if the Aygo wasnt cool ;)

And 3 door all the way!! Lets face it you need to have asthetics when you don't have power

The fact T4 allowed Toyota to sponsor them means nothing.... this part of Channel 4 shows tripe like 'The Hills' & 'Search for the next Pussycat Tramp' lets not forget..... if anything that goes against the Aygos coolness! I'll let them off for Hollyoaks & Friends though!

3 doors rock! 5 doors are an excuse to take passengers!

I'll let you know how it goes then guys with the whole getting charged for 3-door but them actually ordering me a 5-door. lol fingers crossed no one spots the mistake!

Toyota's marketing people chose T4 because they had the demographic they aimed their entry level product at and paid hansome sums of money to the channel. Besides that, cool is not giving a monkey's about what other people think is cool.

Jeezuz when did people start taking anything I said seriously  note the wink!! As a Marketing Manager I am vagualy aware of how tv ad/sponsorship works thanks, and Em......Friends??? How 90s!!! and Hollyoaks? How depressing!!

cool is not giving a monkey's about what other people think is cool

I agree with sentiment but not everyone can pull that off! Am pretty sure my dad doesnt care if people thinks his Matrix is cool, and it really isnt. :P
