No Power To Accelerator! No Revs - D-4d

I started the engine, it ticked over fine.

Went to drive, put it in gear, and NO REVS, accelerator to the floor and nothing.

Then noticed the engine warning symbol.

The engine was still ticking along happily with everything else working.

I looked in the engine and I could see some sort of little throttle lever.. twiddled it a few times and checked the accelerator again and the revs came back on.

could have just been chance or connected to twiddling it.

I'd really like to know what it may be before taking it to a Toyota garage.

any ideas?

thanks :-)

Something you did must have "fixed" the problem. That is to say it may come back again. Check that area again for free moving parts. Something may have stuck a little and when you wiggled it, it loosened up. If you find what you think is the problem, give it a shot of wd40 or something similar. Then keep an eye on it but i personally wouldn't go to toyota just yet.

I'd love to learn more about the 1.4D4D but there is nothing anywhere for me to read. Whats with that??!!

thanks for the reply...

:-)

yeah I gave it some love with the WD-40 last night as I think something was just sticking in there...

I'll avoid the garage for now.. but have nightmare thoughts of it going as I'm doing 60... and everything behind me is too.. lol but i think it just 'jammed' as it had been sat outside all day in the heat.

I know what you mean about lack of info...

hence this site may be essential to me in the future ;-)

Suppose if it could stick off, then there's a risk it could stick ON.

If yours was an automatic, you wouldn't want this to happen:

Not good. Repeat, not good!!

Anyway, thats where the brakes might help. Along with turning off the ignition to the accessory position.
