Close Ratio Gear Box

folks. I'd like to know if anyone knows of a close ratio gear set for the S59 gearbox, preferably straight cut gears or a dog 'box alternative for race/ rally use please, but I'd be happy with a close ratio synchromesh 'box.

I have just bought an ex New Zealand "Schedule S" and UK National Saloon Car Cup race Carina E that was built in NZ by Dave Cook Racing Services in 1993 and race originally by Julian Bailey in the NZ Schedule S race series and later by a Dave Pitcher and then Barry Barnes in the UK.

I believe (but might be wrong) that the gearbox is the same as in an MR2.

The car is still in very good condition but unfortunately the gearbox in it seems to have been damaged and several of the ratios are badly graunched. It seems to be a standard 'box with an LSD fitted & close ratio gear cluster but I can't identify the gears. I'd like to consider a suitable straight cut dog 'box replacement or a straight cut close ratio replacement gear set if anyone knows of such a thing. I do have a spare 'box which may be a an S50 or S54 (not sure as they are not marked) but this is also damaged. I guess I may just have to replace it with another standard Carina GTi 'box from a breakers but I'd still like to fit a close ratio gear cluster

I intend to race the car in the Classic Sports Car Club's (CSCC) Tin Tops series of 40 minute races for one or two drivers.

All help gratefully received.

Thanks

Andy
