Hi Peeps and hello to you all, this is my first Rav4 but not my fist Toyota having 3 MR2s and a GT4 before this.

My problem is that the Battery went flat on my 2001 petrol Rav4, then the alarm went off when i finally managed to get in to it!

and now it wont start when I try to jump it!!!

I have plenty fuel, plugs are sparking but the damn thing just wont start.

Have i set off the immobiliser? and if so how do i reset it???

Look forward to your expert help

Regards

Nev

Ok - i was going to reply earlier but didn't in case i gave wrong advice.

I've seen this before and the 2 problems were

- Incorrect polarity on the Battery

- Ignition lock after changing the Battery, cured by either removing a fuse for 30 seconds and replacing or just removing a fuse and starting. There will be a fuse diagram on the back of the fuse panel cover.

The reason why i didn't post earlier is this is vague advice and i'm not certain of.

Yes, but they are not on here 24/7, so a bit of patience might be in order :thumbsup:

Just look at this and check the installation is OK;

To re-sync the immobiliser, press and hold both the remote lock and unlock button until the indicators answer back then try again. If there is fuel and it is sparking then it should start. Hold the accelerator to the floor and crank the engine for longer than usual (maybe 30 seconds but use common sense) and if it begins to catch and build up as if it is going to start just keep going. Maybe you flooded it and it just needs clearing.

Let us know what happens.
