Hi guys,

I ordered my TR on 24th June. I asked Toyota to send me a brochure via post with actual prices and specs, as well as I went myself to the dealership to compare them if there is no mistake. I ordered my Yaris according to brochure, I've seen internet offer, it's too confusing for me.

I was surprised that the 1.0lTR is almost the same as T2, apart from Aircon, seats pockets, electric mirrors and ajustable steering wheel column.

I went for the chilli red, 5dr, 1.33l version, as I've heard weird stories of odd number of cylinders (3 in 1.0l), as well as lack of performance (69 to 101bhp) and more ecnomical and dynamic ride, due to the 6th gear.

My specs regarding to the brochure will include (on top of T2)

-manual Air con

-electric mirrors

-side mirrors and door handles in exterior body color

-7 airbags

-6 speaker cd/mp3 audio system (4 in 1.0l)

-extra seat pockets (none in 1.0l)

-chrome finsh (door handles, air vents, hand brake lever) with leather steering wheel and gear lever (no chrome in 1.0l)

-exclusive TR trim (god only knows what that means, apart from different upholstery pattern) (normal trim in 1.0l)

- +extra protection pack as an option (mudflaps, rear parking sensors, boot line protection)

On top of that we will get alloys due to scrappage scheme allowance being reduced from £1750 to £1500 from Toyota themselves.

After reading your posts I see there is much confusion and yet again the spec have changed of TR models... crazy stuff.

when i went to the toyota garage the spec hes shown me on the new one you only get 6 airbags not 9 like you do in my model the exclusive trim is just the seats, yep scrappge allowance is less the price has also risen slightly ..so basically in away theres not really any difference ,the lower price and higher scrap allowance was because theyd taken the alloys off and gave us extra safety features such as 9 airbags to make it ncap 5 rating and now theyve taken 3 airbags out so its no longer ncap 5 rated and now your basicaly paying for aloys because of the ower scrap value and extra money your pying.

The top spec Yaris all have 9 air bags. It may say 7 in the brochure.

It depends if you count the curtain airbags as one whole one or 2, one each for front and rear passenger.

yeah they do have 9 airbags now but the dealership i bought mine from showed me the new spec of all yaris trs

which will arrive from now on will have 6 instead of 9 and have alloys instead of the wheel trims they have now..the dealership admitted that there sick of the way toiyota keep changin the specs of the tr and wish theyd settle on a spec for at least a year not like this they specs changing every few months now.

and ill admit if given the choice extra airbags or alloys id rather have extra airbags because id rather feel safe than look cool also the toyota alloys dont look as nice as ones you can buy of eBay or from a alloy specialist there also much cheaper than toyotas.

so what is it with the airbags.. 1 for driver, 1 for passanger, 1 knee for driver, that's 3. In addition to that curtain airbags for each door, so 7. You can add to it 2 side airbags next to your shoulder for passanger and for driver. But I think in case of a side accident, all 3 (curtain, side, pass.side) will go off and makes no difference anyway.

But now you say 6? so what do they include, pass, driver, 4x side? no knee?

2 front in the dash/ steering wheel (2) – One in each front seat in the side (4) – Drivers knee (5) – Side curtain front passenger and driver (7) – Side curtain for each rear passenger (9)

From July, side curtain and drivers knee are optional extras (£715.00) which is 5 or 3 bags depending on how you count them (counting the side curtain as one whole one or as two separate bags, front and back)

Yes it does Frank... Its number 1 on the steering colume, right by your knees!

  • Knee - 1
  • Steering wheel -2
  • Front passenger -3
  • Drivers seat (side) - 4
  • Passenger seat (side) - 5
  • Driver curtain - 6
  • Front passenger curtain - 7
  • Right curtain rear passenger - 8
  • Left curtain rear passenger - 9

You also get VSC/TR for the £715.00 with rear disc brakes

Do the rear disc brakes make such a difference? I would maybe go for the VSC option, but £715 is a lot! The metalic paint was £300 by the time I ordered mine (3 weeks ago) now it's £400.

And I just remembered, in June brochure you could have a white Yaris only with SR model.. what was that about? I wanted white, but they didn't paint TRs in white... crazy stuff.

As well I asked the dealer if I can have the upholstery in TR as they are in T2, (long, rectangular gray strips on the seats instead of many scattered ones as in the TR). Immediately, NO answer as if I asked for a free ticket to the factory or so.. got a bit shocked. What's their issue?

In my opinion rear discs DO make a difference, not only aesthetically but obviously with the VSC/ABS/EBD etc the system works better with discs.

I bought my 1.0 TR in July and exactly the same thing happened to me. A big reason for me opting for the TR model was the 6 Speakers specification. It was only on picking the car up that i realised there were only 2 which Toyota describe as 4. On my first visit i was given an apparently out of date brochure with the old TR spec.

When I was ordering my Oct 09 59 plate TR 1.33, I configured the car on line - it stated that the car had VSC - wrong.

Requesting a brochure on line the email that came with the link stated that the TR came with the full complement of airbags - again wrong!!!!

Someone in Toyota's marketing department needs to sort this out!!!
