Rav 4 2003 Alarm

Hi,

Have a 2003 RAV 4 and the alarm goes off just random lately. This is a new occurance, had the car for couple years now and been fine. Seen a few posts about changing the Battery, checking sensors etc... too high sensitivity. The easiest option I see is to disconnect the alarm. How easy is that to do? or do I continue checking all those things or cough up 80 odd quid just for toyota to look at it?

Hi and welcome to the site.

Not an expert on electronics so would reccomend waiting for someone who is to respond.

The problem is if the alarm has an immobiliser and you disconnect it this may trigger the immobiliser and your car is stuck. It will be a matter of finding where the connections from the alarnm go to establish if the system cuts out the feed to the fuel pump, ingition circuit etc.

Best wait for an expert in such matters and let them know if it is a factory fit alarm or after market retro fit system and if it is after market the make and model.
