Car Covers

Hi

I'm considering buying a car cover to protect my car , not from the weather but from my sons football , my son and his mate are constantly playing football in front of the drive , and despite warnings to be carefull of my car , i have today found numerous scuff marks , of which i have had to T-Cut out . :ffs: Its not a case of stopping my son playing with his ball , as the lad opposite is always out front playing football as well , i've had a word with his parents , and now trying to find a solution , so was wondering if anyone could recommend a suitable cover at a reasonable cost for my auris , my only reservation is that i have heard that car covers can wear away the paint lacquer on the car because of constant chaffing at the lipped edge at the base of the cover.

Any thoughts / recommendations on car covers , most welcome ....... cheers

You are right, they do chaff and scuff the car up.

You want one that is fitted (shaped to your car) and lined, but even then it's pony.

I'd really not bother.

Decent ones are lined with a soft, none marking material, and waterproof on the outside... they shouldn't mark, but are not cheap.

We use a brand called "auto pajama" which is more of a fitted dust cover for cars park in garages for long periods. if for some reason a car is outside we use one of these, with a fitted outdoor cover over it to prevent canvas rash.

Suggest to your Son & his mates that if it happens again, They will repair the damage by T- cutting & polishing ;)

Other idea is, if you have a Garage, empty it & put your car away.

In my Estate of approx 180 houses, I think my garage is the only one used for it's intended purpose. Mind you, it is like threading a needle getting it in :D

Thanks for your response guys

I'm now thinking that i might give car covers a miss, because cheap ones can scratch & scuff , and good quality fitted ones cost an arm & a leg .

Vic , i know your thoughts were well meaning , but trust me mate you would'nt want to let 2 kids loose on the car with a bottle of t-cut  it don't bare thinking about :fear: , i'd probably come back to find the car back down to the primer :crybaby:

As for my garage , well , theres no chance , its so full of stuff , you can barely move in there , don't get me wrong though mate, i do appreciate your thoughts and the fact that you always take time out to respond when someone asks for advice

Ill have to think of something else i guess
