Hi , is anybody able to tell me where I can find the Engine Number on my Rav4 ?

It's an import late 1997 5 Door Stax Petrol.

Got all the VIN information on the log-book, but Engine Number "uknown".

Reason I ask is that I'm about to arrange for a Cam Belt Change.

Great car, had it nearly a year and it's just flown through the MOT :D

Thanks in advance for your help :)

The number is stamped on the cylinder block just under the water outlet at the right side of the cylinder head (aluminium with 2 electrical switches in it) near the air filter.

However, the engine is the 3SFE which most sockists should recognise. Later VVTi engines have a chain so in theory you can't go wrong. I can find you the timing belt instructions if you need them?

Cheers anchorman, really appreciate this.

My mechainc has been given a choice of three kits depending on the engine number, we looked but couldn't find the engine number yesterday - she's booked in for Thursday so all three kits are at the ready for then.

If you could send the instructions then that would be fantastic - email noakes123@yahoo.co.uk.
