Thinking Of Buying A 93 Import Celica Gt

Hey folks just signed up as im possibly getting a Celica.

Its got a problem tho, the owner tells me its hunting on idle, revving from 900rpm to 1000rpm back and forth.He says he's had a mechanic look over it and told him its the air con pump and its a common problem.Now im quite clued up when it comes to cars and i havnt heard of this before so im kinda doubting that its the actual problem. My 1st idea was maybe the idle control valve(if they have 1) but he tells me its been checked and its fine.

So any ideas as to what it could be??Is it a common problem??Theres a chance it could possibly be a split vacuum hose as that would throw up the same symptoms but i dont want to travel 100mile for it to turn out to be something serious.
