Throbbing Noise From Rear - Help!

My 1993 Celica Automatic has developed a deep throbbing noise. Gets quicker as I speed up and higher pitched.

Been like this for a few weeks and not getting any worse but I am a bit worried.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Also - for some reason it is slow changing gears until engine has reached reasonable temp - approx 15 mins driving in cold weather. Any ideas why?

My TSport has a similar 'thobbing' noise - people kept saying it was a bearing.... Just had the service and Toyota dealer said bearings OK, it's the tyres (lip on tyres) and the tracking that need sorting.
