Lane change blinker, which is common option from VW, Ford etc. is now available for the Auris! Does someone have any info regarding that kit? What's included and is it possible to install it by yourself? Also, is it possible to install that kit on every Auris or only 2009-> models?

Also spotted that there's sunguard curtains available for side/back windows. Any info/pics regarding that kit and it's installation possibilities?

Best regards, Alex

Yes there's very much info about that thing on the Internet :) But I don't know anything about electronics, so can forget about making it on my own...

Which positions do you have on your light switch? I have OFF then dot (∙) and ON. When I have it in the OFF position they go on and off with the engine, don't know if you have same thing? I think there's no automatical headlights fitted in your car as it may not be an option in your country.

I've read somewhere that this can be built on your own also, just have to know what to connect and where to

Hi,Alex. Those sunguard curtains are allready avaible in Belgium. I have them mounted in my Auris. The price here in Belgium is 153 euro's. It are frames with a sort of black curtain in it. They come into 2 bags: 1 for the backwindow and 1 for the 2 sidewindows. Mounting is easy. The ones for the sidewindows have 3 clips you can click on the interieurpanels and the backframe can you click into the panel of the backdoor.

I don't know the part/ordernummer anymore, but i'm gonna ask for that again. I'll keep you posted.

Here's already a picture where you can see the backcurtain.

Hi,

Below are part no. for the sunguards. I was thinking about getting them but they are hell a lot expensive as for some piece of mesh on a frame:

PZ49H-E23A0-RD - sunblinds for rear side windows

PZ49H-E93A0-BD - sunblinds for back door.

Thanks guys, very good info :) I am not so interested in part numbers as I'm not going to install them, allready have the tints. Maybe someone else will find them useful though! Was just interested about how good they look and are they being mounted inside the panels of the back doors and trunk door so that you can pull them out when you need them, or are they stable and sticked with suction cups etc to the windows...

@ AlexC. You can mount/remove them whenever you want. It takes 2 seconds to remove them and aprox 1 minute to mount. :)

Yes I did understand that from your previous message, that it's mounted with clips...

I meant I did not know before reading your message do they have to be attached with clips or like the pictures below (pull out from the roll and then

attach to special holder and everything's done). This option is used in curtains installed from the factory as it needs making holes in the

panels to insert the curtain rolls inside... Like this:

AlexC,

They are not rolled up. They are fixed (please see the photo from the catalogue below). It's just some piece of mesh on a frame and a set of clippers. There are no suction cups, it is not so basic solution :) They seem to fit quite nice into the window frame as well.

Very nice, I'd buy one for the back if I wouldn't have installed the tints... To me it's better to have a curtain, you can remove it if needed (for example when loading the trunk full, things in the trunk can scratch against the window and damage the curtain/sungard film if such exists on the window). That kind of curtain is perfect as it covers the whole window. The one on my picture leaves holes on the sides, and I don't really like it. It's okay but better when it fits 100% :)

Thanks for the infos Alex, i do not have auto lights but i would like them to switch off with the engine. Checking the diagrams seems that some Auris models have the headlights controlled by ecu, someothers dont. Anyway, i am working on it.

Cheers.

Hope you will find a solution Dan! If you'll figure out how to do it, could you please inform me (post some info on the forum or send me a PM) because I may be interested to do the same thing vice versa (make the lights not to come on with the engine, only manually).

Maybe you will ask why on earth someone would be interested to do that, but the answer is simple:

I have HIDs installed and turning them on makes them wear, which means that I'd need to replace them after shorter period of use. This is why I like the idea of driving all short distances (for example from my home to the closest gas station or from the post office to the nearest supermarket eg. 1-2 kilometer distances) without my headlights on (when the weather conditions are good and it's daytime.

It is not necessary to keep headlights on in Finland inside the city limits, only outside the city, but many people have auto headlights and almost every driver (89-99% depending on weather, on summer it's easier to forget to put lights on when you can't see by looking at the road surface are they on or not) is using lights all the time.I think it's good to use your lights all the time since your car becomes very visible and other drivers and pedestrians can recognize is the car on the move or just parked.

Some people say "have to keep HIDs off when it's not dark or raining as the replacement bulbs cost so much". I know that the prices are around 40-60€/pair and the bulbs last very very long so I don't keep it as a veryvery big amount of money. This brings me to a point when I have to say, I don't know why am I considering to mod my lights not to come automatically on. Maybe it's just kinda way of thinking. Same thing as when I come to a speed bump. I like to drive over those very slow so that everyone would feel comfortable inside the car, and since I installed my lowering springs I do drive even more carefully even my car is going over very well and not scratching. Some people are saying "woow, you have so low car that you have to drive that slow over the speed bumps" and I tell them that actually I'm just trying to drive carefully. At the same time I am thinking, hmm, I could've driven faster and the passengers would have still felt themselves comfortable. Maybe I am just driving slow because with the lowering you are considered to drive slower than without it? I don't know the answer, just guessing. Same thing with the lights, I don't want them to go and and off all the time because it's "better not to do so".

Other thing is that my mom is using the car sometimes when she goes shopping for some food or so, and she's not really into cars and is using them only for driving, you know what I mean :) She wouldn't like the idea of putting the lights everytime on just because of my stupid mod, especially because there is a possibility that I can put only my parking lights on before starting the engine when I don't want my HIDs on.

But then I'm thinking that maybe when I'll have my next car or my mom won't drive with my Auris anymore I will do the mod, on the other hand, why would I do it? I allready found so much positive things about automatic headlights and figured out that I can put only my parking lights on and drive with them. I think it's even easier and not so dangerous to not to turn lights on by turning the switch to parking lights and drive with them, than to remember to put your lights on everytime you sit in your car and decide ti drive somewhere...

Hmm am I little bored tonight? Not really, I have things to do but still I wrote soo long text, don't know why I did that  Let's see will someone read it all from the beginning to the end

Best regards, Alex
