The original Mini is undoubtedly a classic, and 50 years old now.It outlived the car designed to replace it. It brought fun and affordable motoring to the masses. The Bmw version has the same name, and some of the styling cues, but it's a very expensive car, with expensive options and a reverse tardis design that sees huge outer dimensions yet a cramped interior. No, there are many spiritual successors to the Mini, but the Bmw isn't one of them. The mk1 Ka with its low price and fun handling reputation was probably the closest thing. But now thats gone, the Aygo is the modern day Mini.

:) Couldn't have put it better myself Lloydy. Always thought that the Ka was the REAL successor to the Mini... small, affordable, fun, easy to run. Now the new Ka is out it is def not in the category as the old one. The Toyota IQ is out also as it's too pricey. Hyundai i10, Kia Picanto etc are good cars but a bit bland and anonymous. Fiat Panda is an option, but it's a Fiat?!?!?!? Like you say, the CityBug trio are the current true successors to the Mini. Have to admit to being a bit of an imposter on this forum as I have a 107 which although it's apparently the most popular of the trio, it's also the least good looking (it was the cheapest at the time ok!). I love it, haven't had a single problem in 15 months of ownership, and know a few people who are happy with theirs, having stepped down from larger, sportier, more prestigious vehicles.... SO THERE! :P

Over there the 107 might be most popular, but in The Netherlands the Aygo

has been outselling the 107 and C1 allmost continously since it came to market!!!

Here in Northern Ireland i have to say I see alot more 107s than any of the trio. Quite sad really, cause seeing a constantly happy brace faced aygo clone makes me sad :(.
