Strange Noise When Driving Off !

Hi,

I have had a noise when pulling off in the morning coming from my car since I got last December.

In the morning I reverse while turning the steering wheel right, then stop put the car into first and pull off while steering left.

Now when I get up to about 7 or 8 miles an hour I hear a clunking or scrapping noise, I hear this every morning and

sometimes if the car has been parked for a while say at work, so it seems to be if the car is cold.

I took it to the dealer but they say they could not see or hear any problem, and as it only seem to do it when cold I would have to leave it over

night so they could start it in the morning.

Anyone got an idea what could be causing it, I thought it could be the handbrake, but the wheels are already spinning when it does it

and its not like the noise you hear when you have washed the car and the discs have locked on slighty when you first move off.

Hi Andy,

I'm not sure if that's the same thing but mine makes strange noise when turning with steering wheel. Already seen dealer and he told me to bring my car in.

They have to dismantle(take apart) dashboard (I believe that after that I will have even more problems ) and repair something?! - he couldn't tell me - obviously didn't know.

If the noise is the electrical wind/and clunk type (hard to describe) then it is only the ABS/TRC self testing - totally normal :)

It only does it when you first set off.

Thanks for the info.

Seems like that must be it, then.

Do you lads hear it everytime you set off, seems quit loud in the mornings and I do hear when setting off

during the day now and then but its not as loud.
