Hi

Im new to this forum and I signed up because I want to buy a Toyota Celica, My budget is £6000 and i only really wana look at 140bhp model 03 onwards. From what I have searched online it appears with that kind of budget I will have to get a higher mileage model 90,000 - 110,000 which is a little worrying for me because ive never owned a higher mileage car and the last thing I need is to buy a car and have to spend more money with things going wrong. I dont do many miles per year, 5000 roughly.

So my question is if I was to purchase a Celica with this kind of mileage am I looking at the possablitly of expensive problems over the next year or 2, and what kinda things to look out for that are big NO NOs??

ps: Im off to view a car tomorrow http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/c...cleRegLetter=54

regards

Andy

Hi DaSilva223

I'm not a used car expert, but for £6,000, I'm sure you can find a lower mileage/better quality Celica than a 140Bhp, 100k miler....

You might even be able to pick up a decent 190Bhp 'high miler' for that price

I managed to find my mint '56 plate GT for a ridiculous price on Autotrader

Just be vigilent and have a little patience

Thanx for reply.

I wanted 140bhp model cos its far cheaper to insure and tbh im not that interested in top speed and acceleration.

What kind of Celica u think i can get for my budget as in miles and year??

Also how about any problems with high mileage?

Lol

:D

toyotas are prety bullet proof when it comes to the engine however the 140 aparently can sometimes have a few problems with oil leaks.

as for the high mileage you can pick up a slightly older low milage 140 for about 5k when i wng for mine with both sport and priemium pack.

the only thing to look out for as my mechanic told me is squeaky brakes because that means someones messed with the anti squeal shims and it will cost you a bit to fix.

No no - you must go for the 190....! I've got the Celica TSport VVTLi 190 - wouldn't swap it for the world - got far more oomph...
