Removing Rear Bumper Of Yaris 1.0 T3 2007

My first post as the owner of a lovely new "used" Yaris 1.0 T3. It's got a 07 plate and looks very similar to the current 09.

I have been looking around for a Haynes manual for this car but Haynes tell me they don't do one. Older ones .... yes, but the newer model ... no. So, I've been looking on web sites for workshop manuals. All the sites I have seen have got "2007" Yaris manuals but they're not the same as my car. To me, they appear more like the older model so they can't help me either.

No manual, but let's have a go anyway! I removed the 2 bolts under the rear hatch door, and then removed the 5 black plastic plugs under the car (including 1 in each of the rear wheel archs). I removed the inside trim around the rear hatch door at the bottom and found no bolts, screws, plugs etc. I moved the rear mud flaps around and couldn't find any in there either. I tried pulling the bumper off but it won't move. After removing the foam seal around the rear hatch door, I could see 2 of the clips holding on the bumper and pushing these loose with a screwdriver, I released them but still the bumper wouldn't come off!

Help! Please can someone advise what I am doing wrong. Have I not found some bolts, screws, clips etc that need to be released before it will come off? Will it come off with a bit more force???? Has anyone found a manual online that really is for this model that would help with this project and others in the future?

I look forward to hearing from my new "friends" on TOC!

Welcome to TOC! The cd manuals that are available on eBay for the 2007 Yaris are for the American version of the car (but they don't tell you that), and also covers the saloon known as the sedan. The car over there is only available with a 1.5 ltr petrol engine, apart from that the bodywork etc should be the same. So it will show the fixings of the rear bumper and how to remove them.I have yet to come across a European workshop manual but if you manage to source one then please let us know.thanks!

Download part 3 of the 2005> service manual here: http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=97062

Thanks Nick.

I haven't downloaded it but it sounds like it won't be applicable to the 2007 Yaris. Can you confirm that it is DEFINITELY the right manual for the 2007 UK Yaris, and if so, I'll download the software and manual and give it a go.

My concern is that every manual I've seen so far shows 2 bolts under the hatch door, 2 bolts under the car and 2 bolts in the rear wheel arches. This is definitely not right for my car as under the car there are no bolts holding the bumper on .... on the black plastic clip things that you pull the centre out of and then this releases the clip from hole.

stantheman1,

Thanks for the info.

This manual looks quite hopeful as it shows a picture from the manual of whihc car it applies to and it shows the hatchback version. As you say, all of the ones I've seen so far show the Sedan model which doesn't apply (different bolts on the bumper). Has anyone purchased this exact manual and found that it is right for their car in the UK?
