Hi.

Got a black IQ2 - 1 litre engine. Got 102mph out of it the other day on a virtually empty motorway - and that was SatNav speed Clock showed 110 mph. Wish I could've seen the faces of those that I shot past :-)

Very irresponsible I know - and won't make a habit of it - just wanted to see how fast it could go (so please no lectures). Now I know the answer, I'll stick to the more regular motorway speeds.

Anyone else given their IQ a one-off hiding yet?

I may well be running mine around Brands Hatch in December if the weather's bad enough to leave the Caterham at home. I'll let you know how that goes ;)

I got the manufacturers stated top speed on my private road which is downhill! And that was Sat Nav speed... And it felt very very steady at the speed too

Oh Dear . . . .

You're (wrongly) assuming that I was driving in the UK. No speeding tickets will be issued as I wasn't breaking any laws.

Irresponsible? Yes.

Illegal? No

Fun? Yes

We have NO speedlimits on the Autobahn!

Diesel engine has different display and different brakes.

Please note: the max speed of the tyres for the diesel version is 180km/h!

But still against TOC T@C's to post (by your own admission) stories of IRRESPONSIBLE DRIVING

Please do not post any more similar stories on TOC or they may be removed :)

Talking of speed, does anyone know how accurate the speedo is?

My Tom-Tom doesn't seem to have a speed indicator.

According to my old Garmin, my Yaris was optomistic by 3mph. Handy if you slip over a 40 limit.

So you won't be forming an IQ 'ton-up' club then?

Okay.

But surely 'irresponsible' is an entirely subjective term which I apply to my own behaviour.

For the record, here's some more irresponsible things I've done . . .

Took my three kids out of school for a year and drove from Newcastle to Cape Town in a Land Rover.

Packed my job in to go and volunteer in an Eastern European Orphanage.

Worked for two years (unpaid) in a forestry conservation project in Borneo.

Demonstrated against the war in Iraq - got arrested for nowt - and lost two days pay until the plod let me go home.

I could go on but I won't. Life is to be lived and the only person at risk from my self confessed 'irresponsible' act f driving at 102mph at 3.00 am on an empty motorway for about 10 seconds was me. My life, my choice, my definition of irresponsible!

When the grim reaper comes for me I will not look back and say "Was that it?"

Consider this my last post on this forum and keep your eye on that speedo in your Yaris! It's not that accurate!

See ya!

Now you have got that rant over, I hope that you feel better for it.

I will now close this thread as you have stated you no longer wish to post again and the thread was basically against TOC principles.

Thank you for your short contribution to TOC...................See Ya ;)
