D4d is not a petrol car so a KN filter will give you..

1. Less reliability (larger particles get through)

2. More power (but you will never rev it enough in a d for any effect)

No, Is better than stock filter regarding size of particles . Filter lasts t cars lifetime. (must be washed re oiled each

50.000 kms. )

Lets more air throught that stock filter aprox 30%, but more power is minimal, 1 or 2 %. Not noticeable.

Was recomended KN filter when my other car was chipped. Peugeot.

I prefer mine to the thick cheap stock one, however if you dont like hearing the Turbo whistle when the air comes in do not buy one.

What with Snake oil?

Trials (not tests) prove that in industrial dusty conditions they knacker the engine very quickly when added to diggers. I mean how on earth will a large dust particle traveling at high speeds through the abnormally large holes in the K&N filter become deviated from their path and attracted to a bit of oil. NOT POSSIBLE. Oiled air filters are rubbish bunkum science and K&N know this (but they sell too many to chavs to retract them).

Sure change your air filter every couple of years or get a performance non-oil one for racing petrol cars. The performance of 1 or 2% is only possible when your revving the the !Removed! of it like you do a petrol. If you rev the !Removed! of d-4d / d-cat your only doing 5000 revs (not many so plenty of air) and not really going very fast as you left the torque band behind a few thousand RPM ago.

Since when did cars and diggers operate in the same conditions?

I had a 57i on a Celica for over 70,000 miles and that did no harm at all, the holes in them are hardly large either. If the filter was covered in oil then that would not be a good thing, however they aren't.

I cant concur on the revs either, if you suffocate the intake system of an engine and then free it up a little it will perform better in all of the rev range as there is more air being fed into the engine.

I am also not a chav

Regrettably I can see my point being a sarki' one and that I now apologies for. I think we have to agree to disagree on the other points.

Extreme dusty conditions in order to get exaggerated quick results and it improve their acconomy (they used petrol and no terbo). All engines work in the same way down to the one in your petrol lawnmower.

Many of these air filters are marketed so and they had been in the past.

sure if you suffocate it... but it requires less air at low revs and the terbo giving it more air than it can use will not have any effect.

I only recommend a dry performance air filter in naturally aspirated petrol cars.
