52 Plate 1.8vvti Gearbox

I have a 52 plate 1.8vvti avensis, registered in 2002.

The gearbox has suffered a major failure and i now must locate a replacement. It's a manual gearbox

What range of gearboxes will fit? Does it have to be out of the exact same model of car or do different engine sizes use the same gearbox.

what range of gearboxes will fit this car??

Replaced my box last year. Most places quote around the £1100 mark as they insist on replacing the clutch aswell. I found a place in Leek, Staffordshire who fitted me a recon for £770, and actually went to the trouble of examining the clutch to see how much ware was on it instead of insisting on a replacement. My advice is simply shop around as prices do vary.
