Hi Everyone,

Hope someone can help. I noticed squeeking noise coming from my front wheel on the passengers side when I go over a speed hump or even a slight bump on the road but nothing on a smooth road just wondering what that might be before going to a garage. Avensis 04

It might be the ball joint on the lower wishbone. I've heard those making a noise like an old sofa spring creaking.

Noise location can be very deceiving ... as it tends to bounce around a bit inside a closed 'container'. Strangely enough, I once had a focus estate with this problem. I (and everyone else in the car) was convinced it came from the front of the car.. suspension, steering joints etc, but in the end it was a loose panel in the boot door that squeaked (by abrasion on the panel) . A local garage eventually rode around with a chap in the boot and he discovered where the noise was coming from... they just stuck some tape under the panel.
