2007 4.3 Wheels On A 1999 4.1?

Hi Guys,

Newbie here

I have a 1999 Rav 4 and I am thinking of fitting 17" wheels from a 4.3 (2007) with 225/60/17 tyres.

Does anyone know if they will fit OK (there looks to be room and the rolling diameter is all but the same as the original 215/70/16s)

I have searched the forum and it doesn't seem to have been done (maybe because the wheels & tyres will double the value of the Rav :D )

Thanks in advance

Pete

Hi Poffer + welcome, I cannot see any problem with this, I believe all Rav wheels are interchangeable + I know some Rav owners have fitted suitably sized Lexus wheels as well, if i am wrong I'm sure someone will put me right, but try before you buy + i am reasonably sure it can be done without any problems  Stew

Thanks Stew ;)

I will keep my fingers crossed - wheels are one their way (they were very reasonably priced  ). I was hoping someone had done it before and was surprised not to see any posts....

Main thing is to make sure before I buy the tyres.......once they arrive I will offer the wheels up and if that works, fit one tyre and do the same. If it all works out, I will post results (well, will post either way ;) )

cheers

Pete

LH is right - having fitted a set of wheels from a Lexus....18"ers

Theres space to up to 20" with a suitable tyre if you are really keen. And loads of after market alloys....its the offset that you need to watch with other wheels.

Well, the deed is done.

4.3 Rav 4 wheels and 225/60/17 tyres (Dunlop). Fits like a dream, same diameter as original and look nice - but best of all, the horrible "howling" noise has gone. I guess the old tyres were well past their sell by date :)

Thanks for the advice - chuffed to bits :D
