What Cc Is My Mr-s

Hi all this is my first post and ive a feeling wont be my last. Ive just purchased a Jap import MR-s on an x reg plate, first registered in UK 2000, although log book says 2003 (1st error). Im also led to believe that the car is a 2litre engine, that is according to the guy i bought it from, also when i insured the car it showed up as 2 litre from the number plate, however the vin plate in the engine compartment gives the usual details also the cc of the car which it states is 1798. Can anyone shed some light, is there a way of telling the size of my engine? Who's wrong? the V5 or the vin plate? please help.

The only way to make a 2 litre engine is to have it specially built, boring, sleeving, pistons etc, otherwise You will have the 1800, if it is a heavily modified import I don't think the insurance companies will be very keen ;)
