Hi Andy,

As I only live a couple of miles from you (near IKEA), let me know if you want to meet up or i'll PM my phone number. There's not much I don't know about the 140 and 190 after five years of ownership.

Cheers

Kev.

They're not fast/quick enough for one.

One day I'm gonna put a gen 7 Celica body on ST205 running gear. Thats what Toyota SHOULD have done to 'stay in the game'.

no problems with the 190 as far as i know apart from costly parts from toyota but you can get others. they do tend to guzel oil a bit so when you get one change the oil or upgrade it and it should last you longer.

other than that amazing car just got one and im slowly adding to it lol and its the best car ive had so far and not bad on the insurance(im 18 lol)

190 guzzles oil???? Must be something wrong with yours then, mine never used/lost a drop in the two years I had it.

sounds like they are good cars then! i own an impreza turbo at the moment but fancy a change and really like the look of the celica also one of my mates used to own one and loved his! i'm also the head technician at a subaru specialist so it will be nice to see a different engine for a change!! lol.

just need to sell the impreza first!!

you cant get insurance on a 190 celica at 19!?

I had my first supra twin turbo at 20...insurance wasnt a problem....have you tried elephant and/or sky?

Also 190's shouldnt use oil. The 2ZZ-GE used to sheer lift bolts on the earlier engines but as far as im aware this is the only fault i have heard of and it is no longer an issue since toyota revised the bolts.

The 1ZZ-FE of course is known as an oil burner. My friend has one, it burns plenty of oil and sounds awful.

I personally wouldnt want to go from an Impreza (assuming its a wrx/sti) to a celica. Noticable downgrade in performance/handling.

i see what you are saying but mine is a 97 classic impreza which is 226bhp (20bhp up on standard) so going to a 190 wont be loads of power difference. but my main reason for selling is that the impreza only gets used once or twice a week to go to work in as i recently changed location of my job and it's much further to travel than my old job so i have a little old corsa as my work runaround (it's cheaper than running only the impreza) but i'd like to have a nice car to drive everyday rather than one i only drive two times a week.

Fair point, i hear the 190 engine is pretty economical.

Ive a 2000 vvti that has the oil consumption problem and it runs as good as any gen 7 I've been in, I just have to keep up with the oil which isn't a problem,

I'm thinking of buying an RX-8 230 bhp and apparently they need an oil top up every month.

My friends 140 has been using oil for ages now...that why it sounds awful. I keep telling him to sell it before it drops a large bill on his lap.

RX8's do indeed use shed loads of oil. Chap i work with has a brand new RX8 R3. He has to top it up with oil at least once a fortnight. Nothing wrong with it...just the way they are. I hear that they use less oil as they get older. Until they wear out and then they start using more oil again.
