no matter how bad things can get , its beyond my comprehension to actually do what this poor fellow did , we have i'm sure all been in a really bad place mentally before , and some may have even contemplated suicide , but to do it in the manner of which this bloke did , well ... http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/art...neck/article.do

No doubt in the fullness of time we'll find out who he was , who he leaves behind , and possibly why he did such a thing .

Not nice. He must have had some really nasty stuff happen to him to do that.

I know that one of my friends used to live in ireland, and 5-7 of her friends have comitted suicide by hanging themselves in the village. They had brilliant lives and were very happy people, and all of them had a website in their history that told them how to do it. It used some sort of manipulative form of writing that convinced them that they deserved to die. :o I just don't understand the people that would start up a site like that, why would you want people to do that to themselves?

I don't get this world sometimes.... :(

Sad news indeed.... I feel sorry for the poor guy that found it. I'd have been spewing everywhre I think... :/

My mrs feels Ill after me just reading it to her..

Though the article is by no means funny. ..

"Scotland Yard said the death was not being treated as suspicious but it was investigating. Ambulance services attended at 12.40am and the man was pronounced dead at the scene."

Obviously it was too hard to tell via the telephone that a man with no head was dead. I also realise they can't pronounce somebody dead until they arrive, or by an official doctor. But eh.. made me chuckle.

I'm 50 and i still don't get this world  and i don't suppose i ever will , the important thing is to remain positive , and try and look on the bright side , by dwelling on the negatives will only drag a person down .

Exactly.

Hence my attempt at humour out of it :/

1 friend + an acquaintance of mine did the same thing, this year :(

I think that possibly it was due to the stress of the recession, which is very bad, here.

It takes guts to do it, but is selfish in causing untold grief to family & friends.

Better to stick with it & discuss your problems with those nearest & dearest :(

I know what you mean , the thing is i'm glad it was'nt me who found him , because i probably would need counceling to get over it , things like that tend to play over and over in my mind , about 12 years back one of my neighbours dropped dead from a massive heart attack just yards from his front door , i was alerted by his partner who came knocking on my door all hysterical and crying , i rushed over and attempted to revive him by mouth to mouth resuscitation plus CPR , when i pulled his lower jaw down his false teeth dropped down and rested on his bottom lip , i laugh about it now of course , but at the time the fact that he died plus i had blood all over my top from a cut he had on his nose which he sustained when he fell , left me mentally scarred for years , i kept seeing him lying on the pavement with his eyes wide open and blood on his face

My wife told me about this and I thought what a sad story.... I cannot understand what makes a person commit suicide :( I have had a suicide in the family and it hurts, hurts badly :(

I have seen such death in various forms and it is not a pretty sight, no way

I just hope the cabbie's family gets the support they need at such a terrible time :(

Balli.... I know your colleagues have a truly great system in place.... the family will need it

Yeh , it would not be hard to identify the bloke , as we all all carry a copy license with our photo , name and address details contained on it, plus we can also be identifiied by the number on the Badge we wear which is unique to each individual , assuming he was carrying both of course i'm sure the LTDA & LCDC will acquire his details as and when they can legally acquire it , then contact his family and offer support whilst ensuring that their privacy is respected, as you have said his family will need all the support they can get .

Instead of taking the easy way out...ie killing yourself....why not kill the person that makes you want to end your life?.

That way you get to live and stick around with your family and the person that was making you unhappy is no longer around.

Win win situation....just don't get caught!

Sense of humour missing? It seems so!

Try to lighten up the mood and someone shoots it down. Typical.

Maybe. Maybe not. But why not keep your opinions to yourself?

Unnecessary post of the year award. ;) You've yet to comment on the situation and the first thing you do is insult someone. Bravo.

Its sad that people feel that its the only option open to them, there are people who can help . My dad killed himself when i was a teenager

he was very ill and didnt want to be a burden(his words)to the people who loved him, i can understand how that must have been eating away at his

mind he was a very private loving person i just wish he could have talked about how he felt.He thought that the wheel chair he was being pushed about in

was how it was always going to be, he ended up getting in an empty bath with his dressing gown on and he slit his throat he didnt leave a note or any indication

that he was thinking of doing it, he just thought he would be a hindrance to us. so i can understand why you think its selfish but to my dad it was in his mind the most

unselfish thing he could do, like you say its best to talk to family and friends but in our case we had no idea.

Speaking from experience, depression is a terrible thing and there is such a fine line between talking and doing, reading the posts here certainly brings it home, all the comfort, help and sympathy in the world can never get through in most cases and it is down to the individual to have the strength and willpower to overcome it. Suicide is a selfish act and those left behind bear the brunt of some inevitable outcomes.

Life is for the living.......May we all continue to do so for as long as possible ;)

C'mon guys enough with the infighting , bickering amongst ourselves will serve no purpose , everyones entitled to their oppinions , good or bad , although i sometimes forget this rule myself , it does'nt normally take me long to realise and type a retraction or apology , but the golden rule as always ,is, try not to get personal .

As for the deceased , may his sole rest in peace , the london cab trade can be a close knit community and i am sure it won't be long before we know the poor blokes identity , and what caused him to do such a thing , there have been times in my life where things have taken a turn for the worse , but i always try to stay positive , my glass is half full as opposed to half empty sort of thing , plus i have 2 kids whom i owe it to , to stay the course , my wife and i brought them into the world , they did'nt ask to be here , they had no say in the matter , my commitment to them is i'm sure as with most people , if all else fails , what will pull me through .

I'll be sure to let you guys know , should i hear anything on the grapevine as regards this tragic case .

I only asked a question........"why not kill the person that makes you want to end your life?"

I never suggested going out and doing it.

And as for me being stupid.....I am far from it.

I don't think that my friend intended to decapitate himself. He tied a rope to the rail of the walkway beside the viaduct through the town, put a noose around his neck & jumped. He decapitated himself. :(

I had been thinking of walking down the town, about an hour earlier, & would have taken that route. Can't help thinking that if I had, I might have been there in time to try to talk to him.

No point grieving over "might have beens". He would hardly have announced to me that he intended doing away with himself.

And you are fully entitled to ask that question, the answer though is simple , its WRONG , you just can't do it :nono:

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS -- EXODUS 20:1- 17

1)

2) "

3) "

4) "

5) "

6) "Thou shalt not kill."

7) "

8)

9) "

10) "

whether you believe in god or not , the answer will always be the same .
