Rav4 (1997) Custom Made Seats Or Salvage

I hate the material seats in my 1997 RAV4, simply because they are purple and grey to match the limited edition STAX. I have not been able to find any really decent leather seat covers, would it be better for me to have the custom made (does anyone out there know how much I should be paying for this) or go to a good salvage yard and see if I could purchase seats out of a right off. If this is the case would a newer model RAV4 seats fit my golden oldie RAV4 - HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED

depemds on what you want. You could try seats out of a 4.2 model perhaps but check the mountings first. The 4.1 only ever came with fabrics I believe.

Try a leather upholsterer who might jump at the chance for work just now. The 4.1 seat cushions will probably need replaced as well by now. The drivers seat is the first to collapse.

spot on about the drivers seat, the sponge has broke on the right hand side of the back and i can feel the metal.

The Rav 4 - 4.1 VX came with leather seats (Connolly) and very nice they were too - my wife had a 1998 one and still misses it.

Just to add, I had my seats done when I bought my new 4.2 5-door, it cost not far off a thousand quid, leather/alcantara mix (plus headrests and door panels to match). They were immaculate 5 yrs later when I sold it. Note this was also underwritten by Toyota in their warranty, so they had to be guaranteed for 5 yrs. Not sure how much a private quote would be.

I think your car probably isn't worth much more than that! but was trying to give boundary of ball park for you to start with.
