Yaris 2002 1.0L, Engine Stall

hello clubs members, I own a yaris 2002 with 1SZ-FE 1.0L engine, automatic transmission.

I m having the problem of engine stall at idle and while i press the gas pedal to get the car in motion from a complete stop.

No MIL

Coils are perfect

fuel line and filter including fuel pump are good

All the sensors are okay as MIL doesnt come on.

I have gone through several forums and I have concluded that its the VVT-i system that is not functioning. It could be because of clogged OCV(oil control valve) filter.

I want to ask if anybody on the forum knows the exact location of this filter so that i can take it out and clean it if necessary.

THE LOCATION OF OCV FILTER ON 1SZ-FE ENGINE (YARIS 2002 1.0L)???

THE LOCATION OF OCV FILTER ON 1SZ-FE ENGINE (YARIS 2002 1.0L)???

see red bit circled - ignore red arrow.

Remove bolt below it and remove. Warning: LOTS of oil come out.

PS what I am showing you is the OCV itself. There is NO filter on a 1.0 . Only on a 1.3...

I cleaned the one shown - easy job but use lots and lost of rags to prevent oil getting on drive belt below it.

Persoanlly I suspect your problem is the Idle Control valve.. which is driven by heat and the thin tube can be blocked..
