Creaky Clutch

My clutch pedal on my '04 Avensis has become "creaky". The noise seems to be coming from the footwell. The clutch itself seems fine, as when u depress the pedal a little bit and pump the clutch there's no noise and no resistence. however when you release the pedal into the fully up position it creaks. I have wd40'd and greased up anything metal in the footwell.I got a week or so out of that but now the creaky noise is back ... any ideas please

Hi mate, this is quite a common problem and normally due to pedal pivot bushes, I have attached a drawing of the pedal assembly, on the drawing you will see arrowed where the grease is required.

Pete.

Hi again, yes it does need to be stripped down to do a proper job and in saying that new bushes should be fitted. It will not be a nice job to do as there is little room to work in under there, probably easier with the drivers seat removed.

Regards .... Pete.
