Handsfree System Removal- Help!

Good Morning,

Im desperatley looking for help.

I purchased a 1.6 Auris TR last weekend.

When I originally viewed the item it had a parrot handsfree system fitted.

Because it was a bit of an eye sore on the dashboard, I asked to have it removed.

However, I have since discovered that when I switch the engine on a voice over keeps coming over the radio where its trying to connect. It asks you to hang up a couple of times and then eventually says 'Connection Error'.

It takes over the radio but cannot be turned down or muted.

Does any one have any advice on how I can stop this happening?

I would take it back to the garage, but its an hour and a halfs drive, so It would be nice to see if it could be resolved here.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi Lucy,

I take it that you don't use a mobile phone?

If you do have one and it has bluetooth, pair it and be legal!

The good news is that is easy to unplug the Parrot, but you need to get to the connections. That means getting behind the stereo. Unfortunately I don't own an Auris to tell you how.

The Parrot system acts as a bridge when fitted. There are 2 pairs of connections - the set from the car to the Parrot wiring, and the Parrot wiring to the stereo connections. Whoever unplugs the Parrot must connect the stereo direct to the power/speaker wiring loom.

It is a bit technical, but any auto electrician or incar audio fitter ie Halfords, can do it for a small fee.

Hi Lucy again,

I re-read your post and think that the control unit was removed, leaving the brain!

You mentioned the fact about being an eyesore.

Who ever removed the 'offending' part did not know how the Parrot works or thought that would do.

I would be wary of that garage that dealt with you, as they did a poor job!
