Hi All, just bought a 2005 diesel rav 4 xtr and the engine pre heat light is not showing up on the dash when ignition is switched on. Is this normal and shold it only come on in low temperatures?. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dave.

It should come on briefly even if the engine is quite warm.

That is a very simple teast and not hard to fix anyway. Locate the bus bar on top of the engine and use a test meter or bulb to see if it gives 12v or lights up briefly when the ignition is switched on. If not trace back to the relay and fuse as shown in the attached.
