Rubbish!

I can't find a bin in my Gen3 Prius anywhere, not even an ash tray. Where does one put one's used Mars bars wrappers? I refuse to discard my refuse out the window!

What solution have other Prius owners found?

In my gen II I put old car parking tickets, chewing gum wrappers etc in the drivers door pull well, and then empty it when I leave the car, not much good for empty coke bottles though!

Only for biodegradable rubbish though.

I put sweet wrappers in the flip up (ashtray ?) bit on the centre console, larger stuff can go in a plastic bag underneath the console or on the passenger seat (or floor if carrying a passenger).

Under the foot mats!

GC, LMAO :D

Yes, I do prefer to keep the cupholder in the centre console free to actually hold (ahem) cups. but I suppose the flip top lid can indeed be used to cover a multitude of stuff...!

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. Apart from you, Kingo.

Actually I dont think throwing anything out of a car window, biodegradable or not, is acceptable. I saw a lorry driver discard a banana skin out of his passenger window on the M4 yesterday and as biodegradable as it is, it looked a !Removed! mess quite honestly. We all have access to bins in service stations, at work, or at home and this is where the rubbish should go, not out of the window. :ffs:

I agree it is so easy to keep rubbish in ones vehicle why not wait until at the services or at home.

I just through it in the passenger side footwell :-)

My last car (Volvo V50, before the Prius T-Spirit) had nowhere to put rubbish either. I believe that every new car should go through the "banana skin test" - i.e. give a passenger a banana to eat & see where they can put the skin! When I got the Volvo, I had to go for the "smokers option" - which comprised a cigarette lighter in the power outlet and a removable ashtray (glorified cup with a lid) in the front cup-holder.

It seems that the designers are under the impression that ashtrays were only there to take cigarette ash, and so now no-one smokes in cars they are not needed..... shame they forgot about sweet wrappers, parking tickets and other such litter.

Last year I looked out of our living room window and saw smoke coming from the neighbour's car. I ran round to tell him and he found that the rear seat was smouldering. Apparently he had thrown a cigarette out of the window and it must have blown back in and landed on the rear seat!!

My wife's friend had an even more alarming experience. She was smoking while driving and dropped the cigarette. That would have been bad enough but it actually landed between her knees and rolled down inside her skirt!! :help:

some years ago,my daughters boy friends car was parked on the driveway outside my house.

we were standing near his car,and could see smoke comming from the driver seat.there was a small area half way up the seat backrest that was smouldering.

it was caused by a crack in the windscreen magnifying the sun that shone on the seat.there was no doubt this was the cause of the hole in the seat.the boy did not smoke by the way.

never heared of this before.but there have been claims made to insurece companies for the same problem.
