Help - Possible Problem With Car...

I have never had a RAV4. I was just passing through when I came across this. For what they are worth, my thoughts are:

1/ Get the car examined by a proper Toyota garage.

2/ Report the vendor to Trading Standards

3/ Don't buy a car so far from home.

You have been sold a pup; stop being so charitable.

Hi

Have had similar problem with 2001 rav noticed within 2 weeks of purchase while waxoiling

Rear disc backing plate having the handbrake shoe mounting is made from heavier gauge metal and was OK the the dust shield is made from thin tinplate and rotted away .this is spot welded to main backing plate and is priced as you say. I fabricated and mig welded to backing plate.

Had 95 previously shields were missing from front discs cost £28 each Mr T pricing just doesn't make sense.

When I went to car sales where bought said car had passed mot and was down to fair ware and tear for age of vehicle

retaining pin and cable tie is matter for trading standards as vehicle not fit for purpose

Thanks for your help.

Shame, its easier and cheaper to leave them off and change the disks and pads more often.

Cheers

Kirk.
