Should 2011 Auris Have "lights On" Light?

Hi,

Can anyone confirm whether there's a dash light telling you that the sidelights/headlights are on? The owners manual seems to say it should have, but the only light we've got is the blue main beam one (and the dash brightness changing, since we have it set dim).

It's a 2011 Auris 1.6TR MMT auto with dials for the fuel and temp guages (not the digital bars), and with the automatic lights function. It's the 5 door keyless entry model if that makes any difference.

Thanks :)

I think when the lights are turned on manually, the dashboard light illuminates to act as a reminder the lights are on. If the lights are set to Auto, the dashboard light doesn't illuminate as the lights will turn off automatically. Try it.

Yep, tried it, there's no warning light whether they're turned on manually or automatically, we just get the dash illumination dimming as a tell-tale.

As a side note my Avensis with auto lights has a warning light which comes on irrespective of auto/manual, as did a Camry we once hired in America.

There is no warning light for lights "on" except the chime that goes off if you take the key out with the lights left on

Some Auris are fitted with "optitron dials" when off these are just black holes which illuminate as soon as the ignition is turned on these cars have a "light on" warning lamp as there would be no way of knowing if the lights where on as the dash is always illuminated, your car has conventional dials where the dash illuminates when the lights come on and does not need a "lights on" warning lamp as if the dash is illuminated your lights are on.
