Info/advice Needed - Replace 98 Avensis Washer Pump

Hello good people.

Well, having read up on replacing a faulty washer bottle pump I was under the impression it should be a straightforward job. It probably is, but I got stumped.

I removed the front wheel and started to undo the inner wheel arch cover. But couldn't get the damned thing out.

So I though, remove the front bumper - how hard can it be?

I removed all of the screws underneath the bumper and from the wheel arch, removed the centre grill. Removed the indicators and removed the screws holding in the trim that sits under the haedlights. Are these trims supposed to come out or just sit loose because no amount of wiggling would set these free, and they are quite delicate I was afraid of bending them?

Anyway, the bumber was still securely in place. What screws/bolts did I miss (as Haynes manual didn't give me any clues)?

How far from a successful removal of the bumper was I before giving up and putting it back together?

GRrrrrr!

Search my posts. I think you have made more work for yourself. It is easy and I only undid the wheel arch liner near the front bumper. I didn't even remove the wheel. Just turned it left.

Once you have made access to the reservoir, unplug the pumps then push the collar that supports the pumps up with a screwdriver, then pull the pumps away. Then slide the faulty pump down and align the notch with the hump in the collar to release.

I got a set when I need to change one of my pumps. I still have my second pump in case the other fails.

I do not have any photos of the removal from the car as it was done years ago. If I have to do the work again, I will take some photos.

Remember to only undo the wheel arch liner, and the under tray just on the right hand side.

Lets hope it's not too cold and you get the job done quickly.
