The latest recall is reference R/2014/160 and the recall began on 7th January 2015. The recall affects the Auris, Yaris, Urban Cruiser, IQ and Corolla built between 13/11/2008 and 13/09/2013.

Description: Oil may accumulate in the turbo charger and, in certain circumstances, flow into the combustion chamber. This may cause engine damage. In extreme cases oil can be ejected from the engine and if it comes in contact with an ignition source may result in a fire.

Remedial action: Depending on vehicle diagnosis, modify intercooler layout to improve air flow; upgrade ECU software; upgrade turbo charger and/or vacuum pump.

My Auris is booked in for the recall to see what parts are required. I thought Toyota would already know that? Has anyone had the 'mod' done on a 1.4 D-4D Auris yet? Any problems occurred after work has been done?

it will be a check for what batch of parts were used. ( turbo and vac pump) a rework of the airflow into the engine and ecu firmware check/update.

the checks are simple and quick. subject to parts req'd the time will then be known for the whole job.

Rob.

As stated in the first post, remedial action will depend on the vehicle's diagnosis.

Took my Auris D-4D to the dealer today for the recall and it only needed an ECU update which they did while I waited an hour so I'm pleased about that. Mine is a December 2013 registered car so I guess any Auris younger than this will also just need the ECU update.

We were told the work would take 4 hours but an hour to cool before they could start so dropping it off the evening before.
