Hello, would anybody know and possibly recommend a USB/AUX adapter for a 2003 Corolla pre-facelift for the original radio. I've been looking at a Connects2, precisely this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Corolla-USB-adapter-interface-CTATYUSB002-car-AUX-SD-input-MP3-3-5mm-jack-/221982256029?hash=item33af2c6b9d

In the product description it says "2004 onwards" so I presume it applies to all the facelifted Corolla's. Would anybody know if that would fit the original radio? Or possibly recommend something different or perhaps better? I don't really want a Double Din as I'd lose the trip computer and I hate the look of the single din's with the empty gap so one of those adapters would be perfect!

Thanks

Cannot help on your specific question, but I would first check on the exact model of  head unit you have fitted and physically check what connectors it has on its rear; they might be the same ??

If you search this forum, such adaptors have been covered before, so you might find some good info.

Also look in the Audio forum  - http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/forum/19-audiovideoelectronics/

Seems there are different ones for eariler models -

Some pics of the connector types on this ad -

You have several options from various brands.

Given your car is a 2003, it will have a 5+7 pin on the rear (for a CD changer, originally). These devices connect to that and are accessed by pressing the CD button twice. Steering control will still be present etc, though its worth noting a lot of these will not display Song/Artist info.

There are three options: bluetooth, USB and Aux-In; USB and Aux-In and the Connects2 option you mentioned.

USB

Aux.

If you're buying a Connects2 product make sure it is CTVTYX001 - if its CTVTYX002 it will not fit as that has a 6+6 plug.

Tbh with you if you haven't already bought it I wouldn't

the connects 2 lasted me about 9months and i got a replacement. Which lasted 2months

Better to get a stereo from eBay or Halfords for around £50

then a stereo wiring harness and cage is around £20 on eBay

From memory, people seemed to have better experiences with Xcarlink - http://www.xcarlink.co.uk

Was quite popular with members in the Auris club - especially with first generation, pre-facelift (2007-2009), which didn't have an aux or USB interface.

Amazon also sell some versions of Xcarlink.
