Warning Light

Hi All,

Got in the car to drive home tonight and noticed the SRS Warning Light was illuminated.

The owners handbook states that it indicates a malfunction of the air bags and advises to take the car to a dealer. Is this necessary? The car hasn't been hit in the car park today so can I assume it's a service interval reminder or should I sit well back from the steering wheel until it's sorted!! :D

Any advice is welcome.

Regards,

Vmax

A dodgy connection can cause this on a lot of cars. Sometimes the connectors located under the seat cause trouble on many. Also, the connection to the steering wheel air bag.

To make sure this isn't a one off, you can disconnect your Battery for 15 minutes then reconnect. See if the fault clears.

If it doesn't then there's a fault most likely. Whilst the Battery is disconnected, have a check of the seat connections if you can.

If there is an SRS fuse, you can just remove that to disable the airbag system, rather than disconnecting the Battery itself. This way you don't loose your radio settings etc.

Thanks for the info Stuart.

Fortunately for me the light didn't come on today which points to what you suggest.

If it happens again I'll follow your advice.

Regards.

I have D4D T Spirit 05. All of sudden Air bag warnning light was started flashing. I have read owner mannual but it only say to contact toyota dealer.

but before going to toyota dealer I wanted to give it a try myself. I just moved massenger seat little backwards and light just turn off magically. I really dont know why ?????? may be it was obstructing some sensor or something i really unable to understand.

Anyhow all is fixed - now going for little test drive.... hopefully everything will me fine.

Regards,

Dr Sam
