Hi guys new rav owner,love it ,it's a old one but a goodie I hope,Im worred about the cambelt, prev owner

has no record of last change,how can I find out? is there a way I can look at it,cant see a inspection hole

to look in to, how do you know!its got 16 vales..auto.. a/c all the bells and stuff and I love it.it's

welcome to the forum

without going into detail, I'd get the belt changed and the oils etc changed too - that way you know its been serviced/checked over. The engine is an interference engine which means if the belt breaks, so does yer wallet.

At 15 years old, disregarding mileage, rubber degrades anyway.

yes there is know other way to be real shure is there,Im so happy and well,yes in that case I must get it

looked at ,is there a recomended agent in my local tw123xr hampton that any one may have had dealings

i tend to vere towards Jap car specialists who have a good idea of what they are doing. And ask to see the old belt removed and an explanation of what oil was changed from where and replaced by what.

any decent garage will change the cam belt -1994 -1995 import and uk model rav 4's are all the same engine wise.

where did that info come from about timing chains - every 1994 i seen or celica with a 3sfe had a belt. never known one have a chain .
