Rav4 Base Antenna And Backup Camera Questions

Hi,

I just got my RAV4 Base (I traded in my 2001 carolla), I have few questions.

1) Does the antenna goes down?, how to pull down the antenna?

2) I see Costco is selling a wireless backup camera kit under 100$.

Any one installed this. The problem I see is the License plate is not at the center.

where should the camera be placed?

How easy to install the camera?

Any Ideas ?

The problem with my rav4 is the spare tire is on the back - center :-).

Hi mate, and welcome to TOC. How about putting it through the piece of trim and into the back door hollow below the

spare wheel and slightly to the left ? Or I'm sure others have fitted it into the trim above the license plate.

I guess that should work. I will post pictures once installed.

As per the antenna, I just found that it is of mast type and cannot be retracted,

but it can be removed by unscrewing.

If you are looking at the antenna for purposes of parking in your garage or whatever, I think some people have replaced with stubby antennas so they are not so high.

Maybe take it in to a local auto accessories shop and see if they have a stubby version with the same thread? Something like this?
